My name is Annette Sawers. I live near Bragg Creek in Alberta on an acreage, where I have a studio in my home and also a studio in the woods called The Secret Red Door Studio. This studio is also available for rent by the morning or afternoon, the cost is $20 an hour which includes lunch. The location is peaceful and tranquil allowing time to reflect on nature and inner creativity. There is also a tree house that can be rented. To enquire regarding availability please email me.
I have only just returned to art after a long break. Being retired I find now I have more time to concentrate and explore different media and applications. My main love is abstract and the use of color that reflects my moods. I have always been interested in different styles of art and went to Nevada, USA to study in my early 40’s. The desert gave me another view of nature, one that I was not used to after being born in England and living in Calgary at the time.
Art relaxes me and feeds my creative soul, I do not have one particular style but embrace many depending on how I feel that day. I love exploring and challenging myself with different subjects and producing canvases that are different and diverse.
One of my favourite artists is Georgia O’Keeffe, 1887 - 1986, she was an amazing woman who explored nature and produced amazing flower and desert paintings. She lived and worked in Santa Fe, New Mexico, her art can be seen in museums, art galleries and books. There is a Georgia O’Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe, New Mexico that is dedicated to her life and works of art.
I hope you enjoy my art and explore my website. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to
